We will also have a discussion on the current California CCW laws currently active as well as discuss situational awareness and WWYD scenarios; including a 1-hour mandatory presentation on Mental Health. There will be a written test and a course of fire range test. This class will span over 2 days.

What You will Need:

  1. A Positive Attitude

  2. Hearing protection Muffs and/or plugs, or electronic hearing protection

  3. Eye protection

  4. Ammo for practice: 50-100 rounds suggested, depending on how much you'd like to shoot

  5. Ammo for qualifications (10-20 Rounds for primary), 10-20 rounds for each additional gun

  6. Your pistol(s) (please bring them UNLOADED)

  7. Appropriate clothing for conditions

  8. Holster and/or concealment garment (how will you be carrying)

  9. Don’t forget to wear a belt if you have a holster

More Information:

You can have up to 4 pistols on your CCW permit (Modoc County). Please have all 1-4 you wish to be permitted for. On the S.O. qualification form, it reads as follows:

Qualification:  80% - 16/20 shots within the 7 ring (line counts). The size of the 7 ring is about 15” x 23”. Course of Fire: Static Course at the 7 yard line, 4 volleys, 20 rounds total, no time limit.

BECAUSE OF THE COST OF AMMO, QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

  • Phase 1 at 3 yards from the target: From the standing position at the ready, on the threat command, point in and fire 2 rounds.

  • Phase 2 at 5 yards from the target: From the standing position at the ready, on the threat command, point in and fire 4 rounds.

  • Phase 3 at 7 yards from the target: From the standing position at the ready, on the threat command, point in and fire 4 rounds.

FOR ALL PHASES: no time limit, guarantee your shots! 80% must hit in the scoring portion of the target to pass.

This will be the course of fire for each firearm. Instead of 20 round per firearm qualification, we are only requiring 10 rounds.

Remember, this class does not give you the CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) permit. It merely allows you to go to the Sheriff's office and apply or re-apply.
