Raise a glass and join us in downtown San Jose for The Last Call Pub Crawl, a spirited tribute honoring Michael Riley.

Riley and Minty's Annual Downtown San Jose Pub Crawl started in 2002 and was hosted by us annually for 13 years! Every year, more crawlers joined us. It became a ritual to do some certain fun challenges and games at each pub! But life continues as life does and we moved on with our lives. Far apart but never in heart.

June of this year (2024), we lost a dear friend, an amazing big bro, a kind soul, a tender pawther, a fun colleague

...and the best drinking buddy anyone could ask for....

Please join me in drinking to, toasting, and celebrating  the vibrant life this theater actor and director, this comedian, this murder mystery host, this team bonding facilitator, whom brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. His legacy as a role model and inspiration lives on in our hearts.

We will kick off this celebratory journey at the Britannia Arms in downtown San Jose, reminiscing through the favorite pubs of past crawls. As we move from one establishment to the next, we will remember the incredible man who touched our lives with his talent, humor, and boundless generosity. Let's make this a night to remember, filled with the camaraderie and love that Riley embodied.

The Route

This pub crawl route is tentative. Please join us at the first spot for lunch and drinks and onward to the rest of the crawl...or join us at the other spots at your leisure. Either way, we hope to see you there to toast to Michael Riley!

Challenges

At every pub stop, Riley would present a challenge. Many of the challenges were based on some "in it to win it" games from his team building facilitation gigs. We will be playing some tried and true challenges in his honor and memory.

CHALLENGE #1
Cookie Face
Move the cookie from your forehead to your mouth. No hands, all face.

CHALLENGE #2
Cheesy Pick-up Lines
How smooth is your groove? The cheesier the better. We don't want creepy, but we know we'll get some.

CHALLENGE #3
Tongue Twister
Practice now:
I’m a mother pheasant plucker, I pluck mother pheasants.
I’m the most pleasant mother pheasant plucker to ever pluck a mother pheasant.
I’m not the pheasant plucker I’m the pheasant plucker’s wife, I’ve been plucking Mother pheasants my whole pheasant plucking life.
I’m not the pheasant plucker I’m the pheasant plucker’s mate, I’m only plucking Pheasants ’cause the pheasant plucker’s late.

CHALLENGE #4
Cheers!
Riley's favorite was, "Here's to swimmin' with bow-legged women!"
What inspirational, funny, heart-felt toasts will you deliver?

CHALLENGE #5
Riley's Last Call
Share your fondest pub-crawl memory of Riley. If you've never been to a Riley & Minty downtown San Jose pub crawl, please share a fun, fond moment that you have shared with him.

Past Crawls

Since 2002, the Riley & Minty's downtown San Jose Annual Pub Crawl occurred every year some time between Christmas and New Years. We had a good run for 13 years. As we (mainly Riley) was facilitating the crawl, we don't have many pictures. But the ones we do have, shows that Riley definitely had a way of bringing people together, herding a bunch of inebriated folks, and making them do some silly things...all in the name of fun, camaraderie, and friendship. Life's short, people! Let's crawl!
